Older adults and their families are encouraged to call or visit Senior Answers and Services for assistance regarding  housing options; nursing home placements; questions regarding health insurance; food supplies, or location of a geriatric physician. A counselor will consult with the individual to understand the problem, work to identify and prioritize solutions, and help to arrange services. Services may be provided by our staff, other agencies or volunteers.

In addition to counseling and referral, seniors are assisted with filing forms for government benefits such as tax rebates, Medicaid applications, food stamps, Social Security, Medicare and supplemental insurance benefits. Senior Answers and Services coordinates the Colorado Old Age Pension Dental Program for Region III, under a contract with the Colorado Department of Health. Individuals are screened and applications are processed for dental help throughout the eight county metropolitan area.

Special Projects . . . . . . . . . .

Holiday Baskets
Holiday baskets are delivered to older adults who have difficulty with transportation and are alone for the holidays. Truly a public-private partnership, community agencies participate in collecting food, packing boxes and delivering the baskets to needy older adults.

Senior Awareness and Recognition Evening
This event recognizes individuals in our community who have made significant contributions. Information by national leaders on subjects of current interest are presented.

Publications
Senior Answers and Services has three publications which are designed to help older adults and those working with them. Too often people do not receive services because they are unaware of their availability.

STA-WELL NEWS is a quarterly newsletter distributed to more than 4,000 seniors in the metropolitan area. It features current policies changes,, health articles and information regarding benefits available to the senior population.

Benefits for Seniors is a sourcebook for practitioners which contain information on eligibility, application procedures and income and resouce guidelins on government benefit programs.

Our Senior Resource Guidebook provides information regarding community resources, consumer checklists, guidelines for advance directives, and features a detailed document locator to encourage a detailed record of important documents.
