The Awards Committee for the 2006 Annual Conference is accepting award nominations for the following categories:

1. Colorado's Distinguished Pioneer in Gerontology

2. Colorado's Outstanding Service Award in Aging

3. Colorado's Young Professional in Aging Award

Individuals currently active in the field of aging, as well as those no longer able to serve older adults in Colorado because of health or other reasons may be nominated. The purpose of these awards is to recognize and honor those individuals who contributed to the advancement of the field of aging in Colorado.

Applications may be submitted on a printed copy of this form and forwarded to Colorado Gerontological Society, 3006 East Colfax, Denver, Colorado.

Awards Nomination Guidelines

Colorado Distinguished Pioneer in Gerontology

1. Individual must have been active and working toward the betterment of life for older adults prior to 1977; or made an exemplary contribution to improving the quality of life for older adults in contemporary times.

2. Individual has served on local, state and national boards and committees which have been influential in the development of public policies as they related to older adults.

3. Individual has published in national publications and/or lectured to state and national audiences on the betterment of conditions facing older adults.

Colorado Outstanding Service Award in Aging

1. Individual has been active in their local community in the development of aging programs.

2. Individual has served on local and state boards and committees designed to make policy and improve the quality of life and/or dedicated their life to helping older persons maintain quality of life.

3. Individual is recognized in their community as a dedicated leader and/or volunteer in the field of aging.

Colorado's Young Professional in  Aging Award

1. Individual is under the age of 50, who has dedicated a significant number of years to working in the field of aging.

2. Individual has made significant contributions to local, state and national boards and committees in influencing the policies related to older adults.

3. Individual has excellent skills and training in working with, or on behalf of, older adults in Colorado.

Along with your nomination, please include a one page statement of the individual's work and contributions. Deadline for receipt of applications is October 1, 2006.
