CGS Celebrates 20th Anniversary A special celebration to recognize the
20th anniversary of the Colorado Gerontological Society, was held November 29, 2000 at the
Four Points Hotel Barcelo-Denver Southeast. This event was held in place of the annual
conference.
Those in attendance celebrated the 20 years of leadership in aging that CGS has
experienced from 1980-2000. Part of the program focused on reflections of the past, what
CGS is doing presently, and plans for the future.
The Society honored Jack Allis, Irene Drabek, Signild Danielson, Eugene Dawson, Edith
Sherman, Robert Robinson, and Alice Zwanzig for 20-years of continuous membership in the
Society. There was a past presidents round table and CGS presented awards for
Distinguished Pioneer in Gerontology, Distinguished Service in Aging, Young Professional
in Aging, and the Henry Welch Scholarships.
A special feature of the program was a presentation by David Patterson, PhD., President
and Senior Scientist at the Eleanor Roosevelt Institute in Denver. Dr. Patterson spoke on
The Genome Project: Implications for the Later Years.
All who attended were honored and recognized for their contributions to the field of
aging.
New Inter-facility Transfer From
A new inter-facility transfer form is the standard for the Nursing Home and Personal Care
Boarding Home industry. The new form requires comprehensive information and attachments
about each person who is being transferred.
Some of the information suggested includes functional levels, mental status, diet, fall
risk, skin status, pain program, functional level, appliances used and much more. By
incorporating a comprehensive profile of the person's previous status, the form provides
essential, accurate information to the new facility that will help provide the best
possible care plan and goals for the patient/resident. You can download the form at www.cdphe.state.co.us/hf.
