We invite you to join our newly-founded Coalition to advocate for the importance of affordable housing within our community with the overall goal of improving the health and wellness of older adults through secure and affordable housing.
- Coalition members are invited to the Denver Affordable Housing Advocacy Summit on November 2, 2021 from 9 am to 11:30 am to a) complete a Health Impact Assessment work looking specifically at Denver and how it affects systemic ageism and racism for affordable housing; b) participate in developing housing plans that can be presented to key influencers and policy makers regarding the system ageism and racism impacting affordable housing; and c) be active in being an active voice for older adults with key influencers and policy makers to implement responsive affordable housing for older adults.
- Coalition members engage in discussion and strategy planning to influence policy makers at the state and local level to increase affordable housing and wrap-around services using the American Rescue Program funding that is available. Currently there is more than $1 billion available. The Coalition is working to access some of this funding to support affordable housing for home owners and renters.
