The Colorado Gerontological Society is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization organized in 1980 to provide advocacy information and assistance to Colorado seniors as well as education and networking for aging professionals. The Society merged with Senior Answers and Services in 2008 to provide information and counseling services to seniors.

The Society strives to:
The Strategic Plan (2023-2028 – under development) guides the work of the staff to meet the mission and deliver the highest quality services to older adults, their families, and those working with older adults.
The Society operates with a full-time staff of six and four part-time staff persons, as well as more than 300 volunteers.
Oversight of The Society is provided by an elected Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors meets on a quarterly basis at a formal meeting plus the annual meeting. Agendas, minutes of the previous meeting and a treasurer’s report are reviewed in detail at each regularly scheduled meeting. Budgets are approved annually and program reports are presented at each meeting by the Executive Director.
Board Members have frequent contact with program implementation in three specific projects. Board Members serve on planning committees and advisory committees to insure that grant requirements are met for the relevant program areas. They also provide technical assistance in program implementation when necessary. Board Members attend stakeholder meetings that are sponsored by The Society on relevant issues.
All board members sign a “Conflict of Interest” statement annually. The Society has an anti-discrimination policy, as well as a whistle blower policy. The Society also has a document retention and destruction policy.
The 990 is reviewed by the Board of Directors annually. All other corporate reports are filed by the Executive Director in a timely manner.
The Society carries Directors and Officers insurance to protect the agency from any malfeasance. In addition, the agency carries insurance to protect the personal information of clients that is collected as part of grants administration and service delivery as well as financial information that is collected as part of payment processing.
