Durable Medical Equipment

Durable medical equipment is any medical device or equipment that is used in the home to aid in a better quality of living. It is a benefit included in most insurances, including Medicare and Medicaid. Usually to qualify as durable medical equipment, a device must be (1) durable or long-lasting, (2) medically necessary or prescribed by a physician, (3) not useful to someone who is not sick or injured, and (4) designed for use in the home.
