This year The Colorado Gerontological Society celebrates our 40th Anniversary since our founding in 1980 and our 41st Annual Meeting of the Membership on December 10, 2020 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm. The Anniversary Meeting will be held virtually for the first time! We will bestow several awards including the Al Berger Community Service Award, the Distinguished Pioneer in Aging Award, the Professional in Aging Award and the Corporate Award. The Society is dedicated to promoting the future of the field of aging and annually awards the Henry Welch Scholarship to two gerontology students at Colorado universities and colleges. There will be election of board and officers, a networking opportunity, and a Special Holiday appeal to individuals to reach out and touch five people whom you have not touched in a while and just say “I should give them a call” . . . “or you know they are just needing an extra special voice to share for a few minutes”. We are asking people to do random acts of kindness . . . send a card, put a decoration in their front yard, give them a phone call, send a gift, drop off a home cooked meal, bake a cake and share it . . . The world is open to your imagination on all the different ways you can bring kindness to people this holiday season. When you have completed your random acts of kindness, enter them on our website at www.senioranswers.org. Prizes will be given for those individuals who do more than five acts over the holidays. Winners will be announced in January.
