Join the Assisted Living Residence Leadership Workgroup led by Pat Cook, RN BSN MA. Ms. Cook will provide hands on, solution driven, step-by-step discussion to help administrators and leaders deliver high quality of care for those needing care and services.
There are almost 700 assisted living residence licensed in Colorado providing services to more than 25, 000 older adults who need protective oversight and assistance with activities of daily living. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment regulates assisted living residences. Assisted living residences provide chronic disease management for older adults, for those suffering from chronically mental illness, and those who have suffered from traumatic brain injury. COVID-19 has forced employees in assisted living to provide infectious disease care. As a result, many administrators and staff have been required to learn many new skills.
The constantly changing guidance from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Center for Disease Control, the Colorado Department of Public Health, and the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing as well as the ongoing executive orders result in the need for new policies and procedures that are changing at a very rapid pace.
Therefore, assisted living residences are required to follow all of the COVID-19 guidance for infectious disease, but they must also continue to meet all of the regulatory requirements for chronic disease management. The Assisted Living Residence Leadership Workgroup will work through issues, identify solutions, and provide support for management.
