The Colorado Gerontological Society is a certified provider of the Assisted Living Facility Administrator Training required for licensure of assisted living facilities in Colorado.

Prior to July 1, 2018, individuals who completed the assisted living administrator training were required to complete thirty hours of training.  For those individuals who have not been an administrator of record with the Colorado Department of Public Health prior to July 1, 2019, the new rules require that individuals have 40 hours of training in specific content areas and pass a competency exam. Individuals who previously successfully completed the 30-hour training class offered by the Colorado Gerontological Society can take advantage of a supplementary training opportunity to meet the new training requirements.

The Society will be offering a supplementary training to meet the new training requirements including a) an in-depth look at new rules in Chapter 7, 2, and 24; Volume 8 (Medicaid), and Public Safety and Life Safety; and b) Human Resources, Federal and State Mandates, Contracts, Business Operations (including organizational charts, finance, budgeting, and accounting systems), and Physical Plant.

Individuals who attended the 30-hour class (prior to July 1, 2018) offered by The Society, take the additional 16-hour supplementary class, and pass the competency exam with an 80% or more will be deemed to meet the new training and competency requirement in 6 CCR 1011-1 Chapter 07, [6.4, 6.5 and 6.6].

The supplementary class will be offered May 5 and 6, 2019, 8 am to 5 pm, Garden Plaza of Aurora,  14221 E Evans Ave, Aurora, CO 80014.  Total cost is for the course is $330 which includes CGS membership, class materials, lunches and refreshments. NOTE: For those individuals who did not previously complete the 30-hour training, The Society continues to offer the full 40-hour administrator training as required for new licensure.

Course Policies

Refund Policy: All cancellations must be received in writing five days prior to the session. A $100 processing fee will be charged for all cancellations. Refunds will be made approximately thirty days after the training. Individuals who cancel less than one week prior to training start will not be entitled to a refund.

Returned Check Policy: There will be a $35 charge for dishonored or returned checks.

Proof of Identity:The State requires that all registrants must prove identity to receive a certificate of participation of the Administrator training. During the training, please show a current Colorado’s Driver’s License, Current Colorado non-driver identification card; current US federal, state or local government-issued identification (including military); current tribal enrollment card with photo or other form of photo tribal identification; current passport, or current student identification. Copies will be kept on file. Individuals will be required to sign a State Approved Form documenting they have shown proof of identity.
