Something exciting is happening with Colorado Gerontological Society: a newly-formed Affordable Housing Coalition has been established. Through the collaboration of Denver community partners, CGS has initiated grass roots efforts to promote, protect, preserve, and advocate for older adult affordable housing. We recognize the grave concerns surrounding affordable housing for older adults, and we need your help.
The Colorado Gerontological Society is sponsoring the Denver Affordable Housing Summit. Participants will participate in the following:
- Conducting a Housing Impact Assessment to identify ageism and racism in the current Denver Housing Plan to enable older adults to age in place.
- Develop recommendations to reduce ageism and racism that will enable aging in place.
- Identify strategies to work with key influencers and policy makers to reduce ageism and racism so older adults can age in place.
- Identify the components of an educational and awareness campaign to help older adults age in place.
