Become Certified in Mental Health First Aid

As many older adults experience mental health challenges, many individuals who are in helping professions such as nursing, social work, social services or human services find they need skills to manage the behaviors, help a person in crises, and provide support to a person who needs help.

Topics Covered: Depression and mood disorders, Anxiety disorders; Trauma; Psychosis; and Substance Use disorders. Mental Health First Aid teaches about recovery and resiliency – the belief that individuals experiencing these challenges can and do get better, and use their strengths to stay well.

Individuals who complete the course are certified by National Council for Mental Wellbeing.

Presenter: Christine Speros, Colorado Gerontological Society
