Salute to Seniors

Thanks for Salute to Seniors 2017!

Another great event

The 28th Annual Salute to Seniors was held on Saturday, June 24th 2017 at the Colorado Convention Center Denver Colorado. The theme was “Creative Aging”

Approximately 2,200 individuals attended including older adults, families, caregivers, volunteers and sponsors from across the state. 75 exhibitors had interactive booths. Title sponsor Optum provided a Wellness Fair offering free health screenings.

14 organizations offered hands-on creative demonstrations throughout the day. The demonstrations included technology, arts, crafts, genealogy, volunteerism, outdoor activities, music and exercise.

A full day of entertainment ran tandem with the exhibits bringing the entertainment hall to capacity. The Nacho Men, headline entertainment, had the audience on their feet cheering. Hearing Rehab Center sponsored comedian-veterinarian Dr. Kevin Fitzgerald who was a big hit, as was the full-costumed performance by the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble.

Special exhibits included a rocking display of muscle cars courtesy of the Forney Museum of Transportation. Additionally attendees learned about water conservation, gardening, woodworking, genealogy, painting, digital technology, stained glass and volunteerism.

Some of the most popular special exhibits was the genealogy exhibit which helped people learn more about their family history. Another being the special technology exhibit showing attendees how to take a selfie, post on Facebook and better manage phone apps.

And of course, the always-popular trivia-themed bingo with prizes was a big hit.   Complementary donuts from LaMar’s donuts and Toffee made in Colorado from Enstrom Toffee were sweet treats for everyone.
