The Salute to Seniors is Colorado’s largest senior expo, with information, resources, live entertainment, games, prizes and more! The first Salute to Seniors was held in 1990 with a guest performance by actress Alice Faye. Since then, the Salute has grown by leaps and bounds, featuring other entertainers such as Jerry Mathers (Beaver from “Leave It To Beaver”), Shirley Jones (Shirley Partridge in “The Partridge Family”), Arthur Duncan (featured tap dancer in “The Lawrence Welk Show”), and Jack LaLanne (the fitness guru of “The Jack LaLanne Show”).
Creative AgingThe 2017 Salute to Seniors event theme is “Creative Aging”. Join the fun and help us celebrate the many creative aspects of life enriching experiences, discovering new activities, pursuing creative ventures and enjoying leisure time.
This year over 100 exhibitors will be on hand with valuable resources and information. Each exhibitor offers services particularly applicable to older adults. Those who attend will find information about many helpful resources such as home care, legal services, recreational activities, housing, insurance, transportation, and financial services, just to mention a few.
Come early to enjoy a full day of toe-tapping, lighthearted entertainment. Don’t miss the great line up of music including The Nacho Men, presenting live dance music, costume changes, choreography and humor for a show that’s as much fun to watch as it is to dance to. Beautiful movement and dance is also on the entertainment schedule as a special performance by the internationally esteemed Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble takes the stage. In addition, attendees will enjoy Bingo, Door Prizes, a creative demonstration area, and much, much more!
This year’s event has lots in store for those who might like to discover a new skill, explore a hidden talent or pursue a new activity. Attendees will want to take their time in a special section of the event space that has been set aside for creative, how-to demonstrations. If you think you might be interested in painting, yoga and tai chi, fishing, pottery, low maintenance gardening, learning more about your mobile tech devices, genealogy, national park adventures, how to fix small items around the house, or one of many other leisure time activities, stop by for a hands-on demonstration and give something new a try.
Major event sponsor, Optum, will be on site throughout the day to offer a Health Fair and important health screenings. The convenience of combining the Optum Health Fair with the resource fair makes attending the Salute to Seniors a real win-win.
Media sponsor KUVO will be taking time to visit with attendees as they continue the radio station’s Viet Nam “listening tour”. KUVO is anxious to hear stories from Viet Nam veterans, moms and wives, children, refugees, and individuals who relocated to the States because of the war. Stories will be used in a documentary that will air on the radio.
