The Salute to Seniors is Colorado’s largest senior expo, with information, resources, live entertainment, games, prizes and more! The first Salute to Seniors was held in 1990 with a guest performance by actress Alice Faye. Since then, the Salute has grown by leaps and bounds, featuring other entertainers such as “Leave it to Beaver”, “The Partridge Family”, “The Lawrence Welk Show”, “The Jack LaLanne Show”.
Creative AgingThe 2017 Salute to Seniors event theme is “Creative Aging”. Join the fun and help us celebrate the many creative aspects of life enriching experiences, discovering new activities, pursuing creative ventures and enjoying leisure time.
This year over 100 exhibitors will be on hand offering information and tailored services including home care, legal services, recreational activities, housing, insurance, transportation, and financial services, just to mention a few.
Come early to enjoy a full day of lighthearted entertainment. Don’t miss the great line up of music including The Nacho Men, a special performance by the internationally esteemed Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble, comedian Dr. Kevin Fitzgerald, known to many for his 10 seasons on the Animal Planet’s Emergency Vets TV show and so many more! In addition, attendees will enjoy Bingo, Door Prizes, a creative demonstration area, and much, much more!
This year’s event has lots in store for those who might like to discover a new skill, explore a hidden talent or pursue a new activity. Imagine trying something new at one of the special exhibits and demonstrations including painting, yoga and tai chi, fishing, pottery, gardening, learning more about your tech devices, genealogy, national park adventures, home maintenance, or one of many other leisure time activities. Stop by for a hands-on demonstration and give something new a try.
Major event sponsor, Optum, will be on site throughout the day to offer a Health Fair and important health screenings.
Media sponsor KUVO will be taking time to visit with attendees as they continue the radio station’s Viet Nam “listening tour”. KUVO is anxious to hear stories from Viet Nam veterans, moms and wives, children, refugees, and individuals who relocated to the States because of the war. Stories will be used in a documentary that will air on the radio.
- If you are traveling south on I-25, take exit 212B toward downtown. Turn left onto Speer Boulevard. At the second stop light, turn right onto Chopper Circle.
- If you are traveling north on I-25, take exit 210B for Auraria Parkway. Merge onto Auraria Parkway. Turn left onto 11th Street to enter the grounds of Pepsi Center.
- From downtown Denver, take Speer Boulevard to Auraria Parkway. Go west on Auraria Parkway and turn right on 11th Street to enter the grounds of Pepsi Center.
Free shuttle service to the Convention Center will be provided by Sunrise Senior Living. The shuttles will make trips between the Tundra Lot and Convention Center throughout the day.
