‘Tis the Season for Kindness!

The mission of the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation isn’t just about the Holidays. But the holiday season — a time for giving and promoting joy and happiness — is a great time to start!

Random Acts of Kindness is based upon a simple framework: Inspire, Empower, Act, Reflect and Share.

There are no set rules for Random Acts of Kindness. The idea is to be kind to people you know — and people you don’t know! Any small gesture that demonstrates kindness and appreciation works! According to the RAK Foundation, kindness can be a powerful way to impact positive change in the world!

Kindness can also:

  • Improve mental health and well-being: According to RAK Foundation, research shows that acts of kindness can improve mental health by reducing anxiety, stress and depression.
  • Foster community connections: “Communities can grow when connections are created and strengthened through kindness.” Kindness is shown to create stronger community bonds and connections, and a greater sense of belonging fostered through kindness.
  • Inspired to Serve! The Foundation believes others will be inspired to serve by experiencing feelings of compassion and empathy. “We know that every small act of kindness can have a ripple effect, inspiring others to be kind.”
  • Inspiring Change: Kindness can ultimately lead to positive change in the world!

From baking cookies to shoveling snow to visiting an older adult who could use a friend, the ideas are up to you! However, if you would like to get started with ideas, visit the RAK Foundation web site for kindness ideas.
